What: Game Review
The Last of us, the new play station game by the makers of Uncharted is by far the best game release of the year. The game follows Joel, a family man who loses both his daughter and wife in a zombie apocalypse. 20 years later in a post apocalyptic world where cities are boarded up and a terrorist group called the Fireflies exist, Joel is still alive and begins to help a young girl who maybe the key to the infection. It's gameplay, story line and graphics puts it far above anything else that's been released this year. Even each of the characters are interesting and play vital roles in the game which is more in real life than anything that's been done on play station. The way the characters move and how things look is a reflection on reality itself. The intense graphics are a marvel themselves.
The Last of us at times is even a bit scary, especially when the player has to take Joel through underground tunnels, basements and the likes to get from one place to another because you know a zombie can jump up at you any minute. While some play station games may have a downfall when too much storyline is used, The Last of Us makes it so that it takes this particular feel to its advantage. Both a movie and a game, The Last of Us is also key for future games to look up to in terms of story development and characters.
Despite it being a one player game, it keeps you entertained throughout every minute it. Although its the next gen of gaming, The Last of Us is still a reminder of its creators earlier creations with tons of Uncharted influence remaining. Obviously Joel is no Nathan Drake, (who is the main character in Uncharted), but the way the games are set up are very similar.
The Last of Us is a must for any gamer and not just for zombie fans and will become the next big thing in the gaming world. It's the only game I've ever played where personally I'd rate it 10 out of 10 stars.
Overall Rating: A+
