Believe it or not, there are many people out there in today's cultural world that have never heard of David Bowie. If they haven't or to someone who only heard of one or two David Bowie songs, perhaps the best place to start listening to his vast musical history is by enjoying one of his most successful albums: The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars. This album has it all-talented lyrics, powerful guitar, piano, saxophones and drum work that's so far ahead of time that the music itself almost appears as it is from Mars. This is of course, what Bowie wants us to think.
However, for this album, Bowie seems to tune it down a bit with even a few acoustic songs thrown in to the picture, painting a new and interesting look on his catalog versus his previous albums. Yet, Ziggy Stardust isn't completely Poppy, it still has its harder moments and is a splendid mix between both pop and the heavier side of Bowie. There's something for everyone on this album, from dark melodic tunes like 'Ziggy Stardust' to irresistible cult classics like 'Suffragette City'. So, before you listen to any other album, pup in the one that made the man what he is to today, Ziggy Stardust!.
