Late Night With The Devil is a horror masterpiece, A+

Shudder's Late Night With the Devil hit theaters earlier this year and surprisingly, it is one of the best horror flicks in recent years. All movie fans will enjoy this dark humor horror comedy film set in the 80s.

Fresh newcomer director Collin Cairne's first major film Late Night With The Devil is a throwback to B movies. It relies on true horror rather than gore, and that's always a good thing. In fact, despite the content of devil possession, there's surprisingly not a lot of gore in this movie at all. Yet, there's some truly scary parts of the film that will leave you at the edge of your seat to the very end.

There's some dark humor and comedy aspects of this film too which what makes it so great. Most movie goers shy away from gorey horror genre films, but this movie is not it. It's a reminder of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead movies but a totally different premise.

What makes this film work most is perhaps David Dastmalchian's performance as late night tv host Jack Delroy. His first major performance actually is incredible, and he is stunning to watch from the opening scene to the last. You might have recognized Dastmalchian from last year's Oppenheimer as well as his supporting work in the DC and Marvel universes. While horror performances rarely receive oscar nods, this one is oscar worthy.

Another thing that makes Late Night With the Devil one of the best horror movies in recent years it's is contrast between what's real and what's' fiction, with a cast of interesting characters that provide a fascinating conflict throughout the movie.
