Despite talented lead actors, the Bourne Legacy disappoints

What: Short Movie Review: The Bourne Legacy

While certainly not horrible, the Bourne Legacy, the fourth film in the Bourne series, is no where near as good as any previous films its connected to. The film staring Jeremy Renner (Mission Impossible 5, The Avengers), and Hollywood fan boy star Rachel Weisz (Definitely, Maybe, Page Eight & The Lovely Bones), tries to attempt to restart the Bourne Trilogy into a new direction. However, despite some good action scenes and an intriguing plot twist involving medication and the science behind Tredstone (The agency responsible for Bourne's rampage in the earlier films), the Bourne Legacy cannot hold together the intense jaw dropping originality of the previous films. Fans of the first three installments may be a bit disappointed in this new adventure as it doesn't hold any new grounds for the series. Many fans, including myself maybe thinking and scratching their heads afterwards thinking new guy, same stuff, which basically sums up the film.
That being said, the film could have been a lot worse, and in a future movie, a combination of Jeremy Renner and Matt Damon may bring Bourne to a powerful new level in the spy movie genre.

Overall Rating: 2.5 out of 5 Stars   **/*
