(Friday June 13, 2025 Pixie and the Partygrass Boys performs at The Lariat in BV, Colorado)
Friday night, Utah based Pixie And The Party Grass Boys performed an incredible energetic two sets at Buena Vista's The Lariat. Even though there was only fifty or so people in the small crowd at BV's premier music bar, it was the most dance friendly show of 2025 so far.
You know you're in for a good time when you see Pixie and The Party Grass Boys perform live. The fairly new 'bluegrass-ish' band, as Pixie likes to call them, brings tons of energy on stage that radiate into the crowd during every performance. When the group performed during Winter Wondergrass at Steamboat Springs, they were the one opener that got the entire crowd of the whole festival up and dancing. The same was true for the small bar The Lariat Friday night.
The group performed from 930PM to nearly 1230AM with a short break in between the two sets, performing a solid three hours. For a band with only a few albums under their belt, that's an impressive playing time to say the least. They didn't seem to slow down, even during their last song of the night, 'Ski And Party'. Most if not all of what they played were their own songs, and every one of them the 50-person crowd loved it. Mostly all in attendance were singing along and clearly knew the songs well.
Pixie herself gave good explanations of every one of her tunes and surprisingly became emotional during several of them. The bluegrass group is led by four incredible musicians, including Amanda Cook on the fiddle and Ben on mandolin. A highlight of the night was the brand-new standup bass player who matched the group's music energy with his own. However, Pixie is an amazing guitarist and vocalist in her own right.
It's clear to say that Pixie and The Partygrass Boys have a bright and promising future, with plenty of mountain towns to hit up and perform live after a good day of rafting in the summer or skiing in the winter.
A+
