On January 31, blues sisters Larkin Poe rocked Telluride and the historic Sheridan Theater with a rocking good time filled with balloons, complimentary champagnes, snacks and a near 2-hour performance that sounded absolutely incredible.
This was our fifth time seeing and fourth time reviewing Megan and Rebekka Lovell, and it was by far the best for many reasons. It was a near perfect concert, and when the sisters came on stage wearing all black leather, the crowd knew they were in for a good rocking New Years Eve. It was a perfect way to help bring in the New Year, and the sisters brought their usual energy and blues to a 100-year-old theater in Telluride with a max capacity of around 230 people. The show was sold out despite hefty ticket prices which the Sheridan was generous enough to offer locals buy one get one free because of the recent area shutdowns.
A female DJ spun some tunes in the basement of the Sheridan Theater for the first 60 minutes of the event where a small dancing room was and provided snacks.
The Sheridan Theater is known for its acoustics and superb sound, and that tradition continued on New Years Eve 2025/2026. You could hear every instrument clearly throughout the small theater, and the vocals sounded excellent. The sisters performed two sets that almost lasted a full two hours, with the second set overshadowing midnight with a ball drop and multiple champagne toasts. It was incredible to see a recent grammy nominated artist perform at such a small theater.
Their songs included nearly everything from their recent grammy nominated album Bloom which came out earlier in 2025 and is #3 on Wildfire Reviews best album of the year list! They were some classic Poe tunes thrown in like 'Bad Spell' and 'Bolt Cutters and the Family Name' towards the end.
One of the best moments of Larkin's show is when Rebekka performs the mandolin and the group performs an acoustic part of the set. This sounded great with the Sheridan's acoustics.
The highlight of the evening wasn't just one song, but Megan Lovell's superb slide guitar playing. While both sisters are extremely talented, she outdoes herself with every performance and this time was no exception.
Larkin Poe are absolutely worth seeing live, and if you can, try and see them in a small venue like the Sheridan before it's too late in their ever so growing musical career!
A+
