The Heavy Heavy jam out The Lariat on a May Saturday night, A-

Above: The Heavy Heavy perform on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Lariat

This past weekend, British rockers The Heavy Heavy jammed out to a near sold out crowd at The Lariat in Buena, Vista, CO. There was well over a hundred people in the audience making this one of the more crowded events we've been to the small bar, restaurant and music venue known as The Lariat.

"I was very surprised The Heavy Heavy agreed to play here when I reached out to them," Lariat owner Scott confessed to Wildfire Reviews a few weeks ago. Indeed, it was a great small venue to see such an energetic well known group perform. While the show was a bit shorter than usual, the band ripped through most of their singles and songs fans loved with plenty of guitar riffs, vocals and drumlines to last the evening.

The Lariat is one of the best sounding venues in the entire area, so it's always a pleasure for groups to perform at the iconic ten year old venue in Buena Vista. Despite being small, the bar hosts a dance floor up front with seats and tables in the back for food and dinner. Sometimes, there can be only a few dozen people that show up every night, but this wasn't the case Saturday.

A younger crowd filled in the venue Saturday, with perhaps as much as two hundred people in the audience. It was no doubt close to being sold out, which is a great thing for everyone.

Opening band Lou Reed performed with his acoustic guitar solo style and opened for around twenty to thirty minutes, performing songs he's recorded. Surprisingly either Lou Reed nor The Heavy Heavy performed any covers throughout the evening.

The Heavy Heavy performed for around an hour and fifteen minutes, and the show was over by 10:30. Despite the early times, it was great seeing such a highly energetic rock group perform at a small venue like the Lariat. Every instrument sounded great, but the shared vocals between the two lead male and female singers, Will Turner and Georgie Fuller, were exceptional and the highlight of the night.

The concert could have been a bit longer, but overall the young crowd combined with the band itself made the Lariat a worthwhile and good time on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
