This past Wednesday night, iconic bluegrass band Old Crow Medicine performed at the 500-seat venue Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver, Creek, CO. The performance was great as usual with the band playing a solid two hour set list before closing out the concert.
The venue was a small and intimate one for Old Crow Medicine Show who usually play 2,000 plus venues or headline festivals across the nation. The bluegrass legends proved throughout the evening that's what exactly who they are, legends, and the classic group performed a great mixture of hits and songs from their last few albums.
The crowd was a mixture of young and old, male and female with a 50-person pit in the front and 500 seats in the back. Vilar Performing Arts Center is a beautiful 25-year-old music venue situated in downtown Beaver Creek, CO. Old Crow Medicine Show graced the stage around 8pm and finished off the night closer to 10pm.
The set list started with high energy songs like "Alabama High Test" and "Tell It To Me." This group is extreme high energy every time they perform live, and last night was no exception. Although they have more traditional slower bluegrass tunes, it's that high paced dancing material that fans have enjoyed and expect for Old Crow Medicine Show.
The band performed a number of great covers Wednesday night as well, including "Great Balls of Fire" and The Band's iconic "Up on Cripple Creek" towards the ending of the set list.
Of course they performed an excellent version of the 20-year-old song now that made them famous, "Wagon Wheel'. It's a perfect sing a long song, and it was of course the highlight of Old Crow's set list.
Another highlight of the night was when the performed a handful of great songs from their previous record, 'Volunteer'. They were incredible performing "Carry Me Back to Virginia" and "Dixie Avenue".
The band played a great two hour long set list, and it's no doubt a fun and exciting time that's absolutely worth it checking out this old Virigina band live.
