This past weekend on Friday night, Nashville country singer Sophia Scott performed an above average that had the crowd dancing especially during her second set at the Freight in Leadville.
It's not every day Leadville has country artists perform in town, so when Sophia Scott performed at The Freight this past weekend, it was a good excuse for country fans to get out and get their cowboy boots moving. There were at least 100 people in attendance at the small intimate venue known as The Freight, who were kind enough to put out chairs and heated lanterns out for the show.
At over 10,000 feet, Leadville must be a struggle for any musician to perform at, but the high altitude and low oxygen didn't seem to phase Sophia Scott, in fact, she sounded incredible throughout the evening. The highlight of the evening was when she had her dad come out on stage and perform a classic James Taylor song that had the crowd singing along.
Sophia performed a number of great covers throughout the night that had the crowd singing and dancing, but it was her own music that sounded the best. Performing with only a guitarist and a drummer, Sophia proved a three piece band can sound just as great as a six piece one.
She performed over a two-hour show with two sets, which is impressive for an upcoming rising country star. Her vocals were spot on throughout the night.
Another highlight of the show was the dozen or so kids in the attendance who she brought up onstage at the end of the set who were all very lively and up front the entire night.
Sophia Scott is a country singer to watch out for, and for a $10.00 show Friday night, was absolutely worth going to see her life at the Freight.
