What: movie Review
When you think of Martin Scorsese, newcomers may have Leonardo Di Caprio come to mind while older fans will think of his true gangster style films. Before all that, and during his pre Di Caprio days, Scorsese's first Hollywood production was released in 1974 called Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. The film doesn't have any car chases, gun shoot outs, monsters or aliens, and is relatively slow paced. Despite all that, it's a pretty powerful piece of work promising a bright future for one of Hollywood's greatest directors. ADLH is a true old style American fashion style film, and unlike his other movies, is Scorsese's only female based production. The characters and settings in this film can be loved as it represents the struggles of everyday American Life. Ellen Burstyn also gives a fine performance as the title role of Alice. Fine acting and a unique set of character scenes make this film fresh and worth seeing for Scorsese fans.
