OZ the Great & Powerful lacks the spirit of the original

What: Short movie Review

Fresh off his highly successful return to horror in Drag Me to Hell, Sam Raimi takes the helm of Oz with another dream cast for a movie. James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis star in Disneys' new version of Oz, this time titled Oz: The Great & Powerful. Oz follows the adventures of the wizard and is a prelude to the Wizard of Oz, before Dorothy follows the yellow brick road. Despite Oz's dream cast, it unfortunately lacks the spirit of the original and James Franco may have slightly over done his performance. However, the dazzling visual affects & CGI effects make Oz worth wile to watch to any fans of the original. The movie could have been a lot worse, but for Disneys' first time breaching the subject in over 60 years, you would think that greatness would still follow the footsteps of Dorothy & her faithful companions.

Final Rating:
C+ or B-
