ZZ Ward's debut album offers a new taste of the blues

What: Music Review
Who: ZZ Ward's first album album, Til the Casket Drops
When: April 2014 (Album was released in 2012)
Why: ZZ Ward's been getting lots of attention this year, with a near sold out North American Tour.

While her first album came out a few years ago, now maybe a great time to listen to it. With performances at this year's major music festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, blues singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist ZZ Ward's own tour is a list of sell out headlining dates. Her debit album combines soul, r&b and blues, but also branches off into new uncharted territory. The best thing about the album is it doesn't sound like anybody. Even though she's opening for Grace Potter, Gary Clark JR and other rock blues guitarists, she has her own new sound, which is very, very important in this genre of music.  ZZ Ward's voice is almost perfect to the type of music she plays, and the other musicians in her band play extremely well alongside her.
Till the Casket Drops is a great album to pick up for any blues fan.

Grade: A-
