Can You Ever Forgive me is fascinating, A+

Can You Ever Forgive Me isn't just one of Melissa Mcarthy's best films, it's one of the better flicks of 2018 and is a fascinating look at a troubled and struggling writer.

The director of Amazon's acclaimed series Transparent, Marielle Heller returns with a masterpiece film that is both stunning and awe inspiring to watch. There's so many great things about Can You Ever Forgive Me? that it makes the film pretty much perfect, and the result it may be 2018's best movie. The direction is suburb making the film exciting to watch from beginning to end despite their not being any real violence or action in the movie. It's proof that a non violent film can be equally both parts super intense and fast paced, keeping the viewer glued to the screen with hardly any slow starts.

Of course, one of those other highlights of Can You Ever Forgive Me? Is Melissa Mcarthy herself who plays writer Lee Isreal in the film. It's by far the best thing Mcarthy's ever done, and you can truly see how amazing of an actress she is in this role. Everything she does, Mcarthy does it perfectly and it's no doubt that she's one of 2018's best performances on film. The way she handles the expressions, conversations and how she becomes Lee on the screen is truly fascinating.

A great counter part to Lee is Richard E. Grant in the movie. He's wonderfully brilliant from the first time he gets on the screen, and is almost as demanding a part as Mcarthy. Yet, he caries his performance extremely well. It's fun to see the two of them act so well together, and even though the movie itself is fantastic, these two are the highlights of the movie. What's amazing is that they actually don't make acting look easy and that it can be a hard thing to do. Yet both of them do such great acting jobs in the movie that it's a complete thrill to watch some of the best actors together in the business on the big screen.

Heller's unique directional vision also makes Can You Ever Forgive Me a perfect film. She directs the movie that it's fascinating to watch from beginning to end, and for a movie that doesn't have too much action, surprisingly there are hardly any slow parts. This is what great direction is all about, and Heller nails it and solidifies herself as one of Hollywood's best new directors.
Instead of seeing your average American blockbuster, take a chance and see this amazing movie. You won't be disappointed.
A+
