1)
Mission Impossible: Fall Out

In the greatest action movie of all time, Mission Impossible: Fall Out beautiful displays an action packed film from the very first scene to the last. It's proof that a long running film franchise can still release powerful and successful movies. It also shows that Cruise is still on the top of his game with mind binding stunts that even has topped the last few films in the series. With great direction, acting, and storyline that combines characters from all the Mission Impossible films, Fall Out is by far the best movie of 2018.

Leave No Trace

Coming up to a close second is Debra Granik's Leave No Trace. The director of Winter's Bone comes out with a eerily similar film that also introduces a brand new actress, Thomas Mckenzie, who's absolutely brilliant in the movie. Powerful and emotional, Leave No Trace is slightly better than Winter's Bone because it's no darkly intense, but at the same time, shares a beautiful connection between a father and a daughter that's one of the most powerful movies of 2018.
3)
BlackKansman

Funny, heartfelt, emotional, and filled with wonderful acting, BlackKansman is one of Spike Lee's best films. It's intense, and doesn't skip a beat. The film is unique and powerful and has come out at a time when it's perhaps needed the most in today's political world. What Spike Lee does in this is absolutely great-he manages to combine intense political moments into a feel good dark comedy movie that will be remembered for years to come.
4)
The Favourite

Another film that's filled with amazing performances, Yorgos Lanthimos's the Favourite is an unique historical set piece that is the pulp fiction of British political films. The best part of the film is Emma Stone's performance, showing us how great of an actress she really can be. Funny at times as well as darkly serious, The Favourite is good because it adds its own elements to the time period with great scenes and cinematography that make it a stunning film.
5)
Black Panther

Funny at times but also insanely dark, Mandy re invents the Grind House genre with a film that's both equally bizarre and beautiful. Great cinematography and a sound track adds to the film's eeriness. it's proof that the grind house films of the 70s and 80s might still be alive in Hollywood today.
10)
A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place is a modern horror masterpiece. It shows that all horror movies don't have to have blood and guts in order to be truly terrifying. Husband and wife team Emily Blunt and John Krasinki are both absolutely wonderful in the film. The sound track to the movie, as well as the screen play, is the best of 2018 because of how well the camera work truly is. It's truly scary, and although short, it ends on a powerful note that screams for more sequels.
11)
Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse

More Marvel? Why Not. Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man film yet because it successfully introduces something new to it's already jam packed movie franchise. Amazing animation is just one of the highlights of this film. Into the Spider-Verse is so great because of not only the characters, but it's connection to Brooklyn more so than any other Spider-Man film. Yet, it's a super hero film at it's heart, and the story line and even villain are both great.
12)
The Rider

Even though it's slow, The Rider is slow for a reason. All real life actors play themselves in the movie, which is about rodeos in today's world. It's a fascinating look at one of the most dangerous sports there is, and introduces the world to a fascinating new rodeo cow boy who's life was changed for forever after a riding accident. Extremely emotional and beautifully directed, The Rider is also a beautiful look at the Badlands and the countryside where its filmed.

While it can be slow in the beginning, it's over all an intense movie about growing up and the connection between two young sisters that is equally parts both emotional and thrilling.
14)
Incredibles 2

Why Disney? Although they seem to be taking over Hollywood these days, it's no doubt that Disney still makes incredibles films. Pixar studio has finally released the sequel to Incredibles. It only took fourteen years, but the result is a funny and heart felt super hero saga that's what both kids and adults will love. Picking up right where the first one left off, Incredibles 2 is equal parts funny and filled with super hero puns that everyone in the family will love.
15)
You Were Never Really Here

Highlighted by a powerful performance from Joaquin Phoenix, You Were Never Really Here is all about film direction.
