Telluride Bluegrass Festival rides again next weekend

Now in it's 46th year, the Telluride Bluegrass festival is returning with yet another all star line up. With the beautiful Colorado Rockies in the background, Telluride is the ultimate place to celebrate the Summer Solstice each year while listening to some epic mountain blue grass.

Since 1973, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival has graced the mountain town every summer. Amazingly, the festival has only gone through two changes in ownership over the years, reminding both artists and fans that this is truly a one of a kind festival. Of course, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival wouldn't be complete without Sam Bush. Returning from a sick leave from touring from the past few months, an energetic Sam Bush is just one of the many highlights of the 2019 Bluegrass Festival.

Past festival goers can probably agree that the artists performing aren't the only highlights of the festival. Unlike the mega tests like Austin City Limits, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, Telluride festival is unique because not only is it of course smaller in size but it feels like home whenever you attend, even if your not from Colorado. Many artists who have performed there always claim playing the festival is like performing at a back yard barbecue with friends and family. In fact, in 2011 during their first U.S. tour, British folk legends Mumford and Sons met most of their back up band at the festival.

Almost every one of the 2019 artists performing is a repeat act. When artists perform the festival, they always want to return year after year, as well as of course, the many fans.
Each day, some 10k music lovers ascend into Telluride, transforming the mountain 2,000 population town into a city. The town itself actually closes down during the festival, with festival attendees having to ride a gondola from the main parking lot into the festival, adding another unique experience.

The 2019 line up is more than impressive. Indie rockers Lake Street Dive won't be a performance to miss, especially opening up for Bela Fleck & The Flecktones on Friday evening.  On Thursday evening, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James will bring his Kentucky wisdom to the Colorado Rockies, another performance that should have fans pumped up for the rest of the festival.
Sunday's line up is all about girl power, and despite the notorious Brandi Carlile returning after several years at the festival, we are even more excited about country sweet heart and All American Girl Kacey Musgraves. Graves is touring behind her 2018 Grammy Award winning album, Golden Hour and is one of the better country acts you can see today.

The 2019 Telluride Festival is the best place to be for the Summer Solstice, so why not join the many bluegrass fans (there are still Thursday tickets left!) and enjoy the long days in the Rockies.
