With 2019 coming to an end, it's about time to make those best of the decade lists. Everyone loves science fiction, so we crunch down the numbers here at Wildfire Reviews and present you with the best science fiction films of the past ten years.
1) Mad Max: Fury Road
With both astounding film making and a powerful new story that fits perfectly into the Mad Max world, George Miller created an epic science fiction master piece that's one of the best films of all time.
2) Snowpiercer
Chris Evans stars in a powerful and emotional film about the consequences of global warming, and the result is a fascinating look at what our future might look like.
3) War For Planet of the Apes
The third and final film in the new Planet of the Apes series is by far the best, and one of the better science fiction films of the decade. It proves that sometimes the third movies in a series can be masterpieces in their own way.
4) The Martian
Lead by a powerful performance by Matt Damon, The Martian's humor and fascinating story line is top of the line. The science and dedication to the novel makes this film one of the best of the decade.
5) Arrival
A must see science fiction epic, Arrival is another fascinating tale that's also lead by an equally great performance by Amy Adams. This alien baby is a sci fi gem all will enjoy.
6) Looper
We've mentioned aliens, global warming and post apocalypse bananza, but what about time travel? Look no further because Looper is down right an incredible film that's lead by great performances by it's two lead actors
7) Star Trek: Into Darkness
A tremendous cast joined by Benedict Cumberbatch as the one and only Khan makes Star Trek Into Darkness the best of the new trilogy. Action packed and visually stunning, Into Darkness is why Star Trek will always be some of the best in science fiction.
8) Edge of Tomorrow
Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow is fascinating in it's own way, another alien saga that will keep you glued to the screen from the very first moments to the end. And we all love Emily Blunt in this film too.
9) 10 Cloverfield Lane
There's nothing like it when John Goodman stars is any film yet a lone being the bad guy. Combined with a great story and acting all around, 10 Cloverfield Lane propels the Cloverfield franchise to further heights and interesting new premises.
10) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The best new Star Wars film, Rogue One beautifully connects the stories and characters before the first film. It's a must see epic filled with great battle scenes and everything Star Wars fans love.
