The Conjuring 2 is everything you want a horror sequel movie to be. Director James Wan does a fascinating job with relocating the Conjuring story over to England and capturing one of the most documented paranormal investigations in history.
Before you step into the Conjuring 2, there's one thing you need to know: it's truly scary. It's a perfect horror movie sequel that has everything you would want. The film does a great job balancing scenes and characters, and the directing from James Wan is at the top of his game. Vera Farmigo and Patrick Wilson are great returning as Ed and Lorraine Warren. Newcomer Madison Wolfe also does a pretty good convincing job as the girl who gets possessed in the film.
Despite how scary it is, the sequel actually has a great ending. It solidifies the Conjuring series as one of the best horror franchises fans can really dig into and love.
Perhaps the best thing about The Conjuring 2 is the script, which is a rare thing in modern day horror flicks. It's brilliantly crafted, capturing the viewer from the first scenes to the last.
It's one of those unique horror sequels that is equally great if not better then the first.
What's truly terrifying about the Conjuring series, and especially the second one, are the events in all of the films supposedly happened in real life. Little is changed from the true story to the screen.
The only thing that's lukewarm about this sequel is that director James Wan does take some time as he introduces the new family the screen. However, it's time well spent because you get to know these new characters and feel just as scared as they might have been.
The Conjuring 2 is actually over two hours which is another rare thing in horror films. Despite that, you hardly notice it even at the ending scenes.
Another great thing about the sequel are the settings. James Wan really does a fascinating job with the Enfield House. It's as if your right there in the house with the main characters, which aren't the Warrens but the new family being introduced.
The Conjuring 2 is a film that other horror franchises should pay close attention to. It works in every single way, and even movie fans that don't get easily scared will be jumping off the edge of their seat at least several times throughout the film.
