Driftwood release their best album yet, A+

Binghamton NY folk rock group Driftwood are back and better then ever with their fifth studio album, Tree of Shade. It's the band's best album release yet, and it clearly shows that the band has a bright and promising future ahead of them.

Hailing from Upstate NY, Driftwood's unique sound debuted more than ten years ago in 2006. Ever since then, these musicians have grown and released several records, including their self title album Driftwood in 2013 that has one of their hit singles, 'The Sun's Going Down'.  Now, the band has returned with eleven awesome new tracks on Tree Of Shade. Each song is great in it's own way, telling stories as Dan Forsyth, Joe Kollar and Claire Byrne trade off on vocals on the record.

One of the highlights of the record is that how everything sounds not only new and fresh, but also clean cut and crisp. You can hear everyone's vocals and instruments extremely well, and it sounds beautiful on every tune on the record. Driftwood is one of those bands whose Americana and folk influence take control of their music, and on this record, you can truly hear how that clearly is on each and every one of their songs.

Out of everyone in the group, perhaps the artist to really look out for on this record is fiddle player Claire Byrne. Her vocals are better than ever, she sounds crisp and truly passionate when she sings every one of her songs. Each one of her songs are album highlights, especially the upbeat 'Conquering Man'. It's perhaps one of the best she's ever done on any of their records, and the melody and music behind it is great as well.

Even the lyrics throughout the record suggest that all of these musicians have grown into their true selves and are ready for whatever the world might have in store for them.

Like previous Driftwood albums, the song writing is truly tremendous throughout Tree of Shade. Song writing has always been a strength of Driftwood, and they don't shy away from that talent with the new record.
Another great song that showcases the fiddle and unique sound that Driftwood has become is 'Goldmine'.

Every song is fun to listen to and by the end of the record, you almost wish there was more. It's eleven total tracks in length, but each of these songs are unique and powerful on their own, showcasing the best of who Driftwood is. As great as some of the songs Claire sings on her own, the combined vocals and harmonies are equally impressive.

Above all, it's a great listen to from beginning to end, and old fans will be extremely delighted to know that Driftwood is still true to form to who they are with releasing an excellent new studio album.
A+
