The best live performances of 2024

Above: Molly Tuttle and the Golden Highway perform at Dillon Amp June 2024

2024 has been a great year for music for Wildfire Reviews with us fully back into the swing and reviewing several shows a month. Here's our list of best performances of 2024.

1) Kaitlin Butts, live at the Globe Hall, Denver, July 19, 2024

New up and comer americana country singer Kaitlin Butts performed mid-summer at a small club in Denver that only holds several hundred. The show was so sold out of course, and it was one of her first dates on the 'Roadrunner Tour'. The result was an electrifying performance that was hands down the best of the year. Kaitlin has incredible cowgirl sassy attitude that brings her concerts to live.

2) Samantha Fish after party, Telluride Blues and Brews 2024

It's no secret that Samantha Fish is one of the best performances in the music business today. "I really missed you guys!" Fish proclaimed during the first few songs of her set during the after party at Telluride Blues and Brews festival this year. It was great seeing a double dosage of Samantha as always at the festival, especially because she only performed one or two repeats during the after party following her main stage set list.

3) Infamous Stringdusters, Mission Ballroom, January 2024

'Colorado is now home to bluegrass' Proclaimed the group as they jammed out for their annual show at Mission Ballroom this January. It was an incredible 4 hour performance that made any newcomer a true fan of the band, and fans completely satisfied (and a bit tired) at the end.

4) Old Crow Medicine Show and Molly Tuttle and the Golden Highway, Dillon Amp, June 2024

Two legendary bluegrass grammy award winning groups together in one night? That says it all, despite down pouring rain which didn't affect the crowd from dancing all night long. It was an amazing sight to see Molly Tuttle and gang perform with Old Crow for nearly 30 minutes at the end, with an incredible highlight of 'Wagon Wheel'.

5) Molly Tuttle and the Golden Highway, Belly Up Aspen, Summer 2024

Every time Molly Tuttle is a force to be reckoned with when she plays live and gives everything her all. It was amazing to see the group in one of the best small venues in America with incredible energy that lasted their entire set.

6) Sierra Ferrell, Winterwondergrass, Steamboat Springs, March 2024

Winterwondergrass is an incredible venue up in steamboat where each year is sort of a preview of what's to come for the summer. This year was no exception to a sold-out festival, and Sierra was by far the best performance. Her singing was top notch despite performing in a blizzard, and she even gave a story behind her song, 'One Dollar Bill Bar' which was influenced by characters in Steamboat Springs.

7) Eric Gales, Telluride Blues festival 30th anniversary, 2024

An incredible performer in his own right, Eric Gales rocked the main stage during his set the first day of the Telluride Blues festival with incredible energy. He's one of the best new blues artists around to see live.

8) The Head and the Heart, Belly Up, Aspen CO, Aug 2024

It was the band's 3rd or 4th time playing Aspen within a year, but they come back for good reason. There's an unique energy in the crowd every time they sell out Belly Up, and it was an incredible first time experience. The band knows the venue, the manager and how to make everything great when they jammed out the small 400 seat club this year.

9) ZZ Ward, Gothic Theater, November 2024

ZZ Ward certainly isn't an up and comer blues artist anymore, and her live performances show it. Surprisingly emotional and filled with blues energy, the blues mama rocked out the Gothic Theater, even bringing her small boy up on the stage with her during a song.

10) The Dead South, Winter Wondergrass

Headlining the festival Friday night was folk group the Dead South. They put on an incredible show that no doubt encouraged the band to return to Colorado with two shows at the Dillon Amp leater this summer.
