Last night, a great line up of musicians including Kelsey Waldon, Amy Martin and Marial Buckley performed at the small club known as the Larimer Lounge in downtown Denver for some electrifying and satisfying performances. However, the highlight of the evening was Denver's own Amy Martin who opened up the show.
Wildfire Review's first time at the Larimer Lounge in Denver, CO was an eventful one last night on Wednesday, July 9 with three incredible women performing throughout the evening. Kentucky born country western singer Kelsey Waldon headlined with a powerhouse performance that included nearly every new song from her new album, Every Ghost. The album was only released only a few weeks ago.
While Kelsey's set included many new songs highlighted by a great performance of her newest single 'Tiger Lillies', she did include some older classics from previous records like 'Traveling the Highway Home' and more tunes from her album 'No Regular Dog'. She had a wonderful back up band highlighted by the young female fiddle player who nailed some incredible solos. Kelsey and her band had great energy throughout the night.
The crowd at the Larimer Lounge averaged around thirty-five middle aged or older folk who braved headed out to town on a Wednesday evening, most of who no doubt had to work the following day. A few energetic members cheered and danced during most of Kelsey's near 2-hour set.
Although Kelsey Waldon and her band were great, the star of the evening was Amy Martin who performed a 30-minute opening set. Amy's voice matched her acoustic guitar playing well, and she was very emotional describing all of her songs to the crowd. While there was no doubt some Kelsey Waldon fans in the crowd, it was clear there were also some Amy fans who showed up early to hear her perform.
The show last was absolutely worth going to highlighted by three very talented up and coming ladies in the music industry today.
