Moe. jam packs the F Shed Market

What: concert review
who: Moe
When: February 14, 2014 (V Day)
Where: F Shed market, Syracuse

This past weekend jam band favorites Moe. jammed pack the F Shed Market in Syracuse, NY. The place was packed Friday night, and the band performed over a 2 hour long performance that was split up in between two sets and an encore.
Being from Utica, Moe. helped spread the word about a new venue in town, the F Shed Market, located near Destiny USA in Syracuse, NY. The venue is basically a long warehouse that can hold roughly in between 2,000 or 3,000 people. Thankfully, the closed in warehouse was heated during Moe's performance. Moe were fantastic, giving everything they had into each song. The crowd sang along to familiar tunes like 'Captain America' and 'Timmy Tucker'.
Opening the concert was another jam band named Max Creek. Max Creek performed over an hour long set themselves, warming the crowd sweetly and tastefully for Moe. Their jam friendly tunes, guitar sweeping and playing seemed to be a perfect fit for the concert billed at the F Shed. Especially when they covered the Grateful Dead at the end of their set.

It was obvious Friday night that Moe. catered to the SU men's basketball team. One of the lead guitarist of the band wore a SU shirt, and when the band came back on stage for their second set, they helped begin a successful and emotional 'Go orange' chant. Another emotional thing during the concert was the lead guitarist pointing out that someone was there at the show because she couldn't make it to Moe. Down last summer due to a kidney failure, and she had to have her kidney replaced. So the band thanked the fan for coming.
Lastly, a somewhat awkward moment came when one of the band's groupies or tour people made the crowd chant, 'Fuck Mountain Jam'. Awkward because Mountain Jam hosts many Moe. type bands during their summer performance, and many people who were at the Moe. show could just as easily grace Hunter Mountain every June.

That being said, despite the rant against Mountain Jam, the concert Friday night was still great and well worth going to. It's easy to tell by talking to the crowd that Moe. have themselves some very hard core dedicated followers, some of them having seen the group perform over a hundred times. Having been around for well over a dozen years now, Moe. give everything they have into their performance. For Dead/Phish heads, they are a must see group. It was also neat to see the group play a new venue in Syracuse by themselves and not at a festival setting.
