Trout Steak Revivial sell out Telluride, A-

Earlier this month, Colorado favorite bluegrass group Trout Steak Revival jammed out the Sheridan Opera House in Telluride. The result was an electrifying dance and banjo filled night that the crowd loved every minute of.

The band sold out the gig a few days before hand, and it was the fourth time they managed to do so in Telluride. They were beyond excited to be back in the mountains once again. The group performed for a good hour and a half. While the group performed some oldies from their first few albums, the night consisted of many tracks from their brand new released record, The Light We Bring.

Even though it was a sold out crowd, the dance floor wasn't entirely jammed packed and that was a good thing. A young crowd with a mixture of both guys and gals filled up the venue that night, and were ready to start dancing as soon as the band launched it's first song.

It was a cold winter day out side in Telluride, and the town had an empty feel to it. This was mostly of course because the group played on Friday, February 7 when there wasn't any holidays or winter events that brought the tourists swarming into town. As a result, it was mostly locals in the crowd, and that itself was also a very good thing.

As the group continued to perform, it was no doubt that fiddle player and vocalist Bevin Foley stole the show. She was beyond electrifying that night, proving that bluegrass will forever hold a place in the mountains of Colorado.

It was surely a good feeling listening to a home town Colorado group perform bluegrass songs in the dead of winter and not having to wait to the usual sold out Telluride Bluegrass Festival in June.
The band has a long history of playing Telluride, in fact it's partly because of Telluride that they have become so well known the past few years. The band won the band competition a few years ago and since then, have only becoming more and more popular, even outside of Colorado.

It was great to see such a band perform at a place like the Sheridan Opera House as well, because unlike many other venues, the Sheridan is an unique place that doesn't hold a lot of people and everyone felt more up close and personal with the band than ever before that night.
However, there was one draw back. The crowd was constantly talking throughout the show, and as a result, it was hard to hear the musicians and instruments sometimes over the many voices of the crowd.
Aside from that, it was over all a good time and well worth going to.
