Best movies of 2019

We are incredibly late this year, but due to the fact it's just me, it's taken a long time to see all of 2019's best films. This list might be edited in the next few weeks since we haven't seen Parasite, The Lighthouse or some of other incredible flicks. For now, enjoy our list!

1)  Knives Out
97% On Rotten Tomatoes
It was one of those indie films that exploded at the box office and for good reason. An incredibly tremendous cast lead by a profound Daniel Craig lead an equally great movie called Knives Out. Funny, smart and thought provoking, Knives Out is one of those rare films that works on multiple levels. Director Rian Johnson is at the top of his game, but perhaps the true jew of this film is break out star Ana De Armes, who was exceptional as the maid.

2)
Apollo 11
99% on Rotten Tomatoes
Shelved by the 2020 Oscars and not even nominated once, NASA's 2019 documentary about the Apollo 11 mission was simply incredible. The sound editing was simply incredible, and above all else, the film was beyond inspirational. It's a masterpiece because it's a film that makes history new again. It was also truly wonderful experiencing the newfound moon landing footage in IMAX.

3)
Avengers: Endgame

94% On Rotten Tomatoes
A Masterpiece in every way, Avengers Endgame ended the Infinity War Saga trilogy in Marvel film history the best way it possibly could. An incredible story line and amazing battle scenes, Endgame also dug into all of our favorite super hero's characters much more than any other film, proving that family and love matters above all else.

4)

Us
93% On Rotten Tomatoes
Jordon Peele's follow up film proved that the director beat the sophomore slump. Us is more true to the horror genre than Get Out, but it's not that slasher bloody horror. It's truly suspenseful, and one of those rare films that you had no idea what was going to happen and did not expect it to turn out like it did. Unlike most indie horror flicks, Us had truly exceptional acting, lead by break out star Lupita Nyongo.

5)
They Shall Not Grow Old
100% On Rotten Tomatoes
Everyone's talking about 1917, but few seemed to forget Peter Jackson filmed an incredible documentary about British soldiers during the first world war that came out earlier in 2019. Like 1917, They Shall Not Grow Old was even more so an impressive film making achievement seeing found WWI footage in 3D and color on the big screen. Peter Jackson made the characters in the film real, and it was over all a heart warming experience that was much better than 1917.

6)
Marriage Story
95% On Rotten Tomatoes
Lead by incredible acting by it's two leads, Marriage Story is one of the better films of 2019 because of how real and emotional the subject matter was. Although most people might not be interested, Marriage Story actually keeps up the pace throughout the film, and your never bored watching it. This is partly because of the tremendous acting by Scarlett Johanson and Adam Diver.

7)
The Irishmen

96% On Rotten Tomatoes
Despite it's incredibly long length, the Irishmen is one of Martin Scorcsese's best works. Another filmed anchored on incredible performances, it's proof that old guys can still act and still have it. Perhaps out of all the great actors in this film, Joe Pesci lead the gang in a stand out performance. Even though it was long, The Irismen didn't feel like it was three and a half hours, and it was fascinating to watch from beginning to end.

8)

Ford Vs Ferrari
92% on Rotten Tomatoes
Fast paced and beautifully shot, Ford Vs Ferrari delivers satisfying entertainment we can all enjoy. This is helped by of course amazing performances by both Matt Damon and Christian Bale. It's a drama that's edge of your seat from the first scene to the last, and it makes racing actually interesting and exciting. The sound editing and cinematography are great as well, and it has a impressive story line movie goers can enjoy.

9)

John Wick: Chapter 3
90% On Rotten Tomatoes
The best film in the John Wick series by far, Chapter 3 sees star Keenu Reeves truly embracing his character and loving every single moment of it. New faces and old ones join the fight, and John Wick's world is expanded even more, making this film one of the best action flicks in recent times. It's jam backed with great fight scenes from the beginning to end, and truly what else can we expect from a John Wick film?

10)

The Two Popes
89% On Rotten Tomatoes
Another film that the highlight of it's core is within it's two lead actors, The Two Popes is also equally interesting in it's own way. It makes a part of history fascinating that most people have forgotten about, and the film keeps you interested to the very end. Above all else though, The Two Popes is beautifully acted by both aging stars Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce, who are an absolute delight to see on screen together.

11)

Shazam
90% On Rotten Tomatoes
Each year Marvel leads the fray on best super hero flicks, but we can't ignore DC's recent block buster smash, Shazam. Historically funny, Shazam is one of the best films in DC recent history. The characters and even villains are all tremendously done, and unlike other recent flicks in the Batman Vs Superman saga, Shazam works so much because it adds humor to the mix. The appreciation towards Tom Hank's film Big also makes this new flick highlighly entertaining to watch as well.

12)

1917
89% on Rotten Tomatoes
Although it might not be 2019's best film, 1917 is a war masterpiece because of how incredible the sound editing and cinematography was. It's a film unlike any other and deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Although the story line and acting suffers, director Sam Mende's WWI epic is fascinating in other ways. It's a bit slower, but the end is a satisfying result, and that's all we can hope for in a war flick.

13)
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

85% On Rotten Tomatoes
It's neither Leonardo Dicaprio's or Quentin Tarantino's best film, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is still entertaining to watch mostly because of Brad Pitt's incredible performance. He's the true star of the film, and of course, it's great to finally see him and Leo on screen together. Despite being unusually slow for a Tarantino film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is still pure cinama magic and trills, especially the ending.

 14)
Honeyland
100% On Rotten Tomatoes
Another documentary that works, Honeyland is fascinating because of it tells the life story of a beekeeper in Eastern Europe. It's more real than any other film on this list, and although sometimes it's hard to watch, Honeyland is still amazing because it shows a part of Eastern Europe that the world has seemed to forget about it.

15)
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

91% On Rotten Tomatoes
The third and final film of the How to Train Your Dragon series ends a trilogy any way it should. Beautiful and heart warming, Hiccup's and Toothless adventures finally come to end. It might not be as great as the first two films, but the Hidden World has it's own moments that fans of the series will love for forever.
