Infamous Stringdusters prove bluegrass is alive and well in Colorado for 2025, A-

This past Thursday night, veteran bluegrassers The Infamous Stringdusters performed the first of two near sold out shows at the beautiful and intimate Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek.

"We love Mountain Towns!" Proclaimed one of the dusters as they launched into Colorado favorite tune 'Mountain Town'. You could obviously tell that the band handpicked several of their songs just to play at the show that night and their welcoming home to Colorado.

Although technically not from Colorado, The Stringdusters sure give their love to this state because it seems like every year their back with a dozen shows on their tour. This time of year, the band decided to swing to Colorado in the cold winter month of January for some mountain time and skiing. "Who's skiing tomorrow?' inquired the band as they proclaimed yet again how much they love Colorado and being back here. This was indeed the first of two nights the group performed at the Vilar, so they no doubt decided to have some fun and enjoy the mountains themselves while in Beaver Creek.

The Vilar Performing Arts Center was a wonderful smaller venue to witness a group like The Infamous Stringdusters who has a lot of sound and instruments in their music. Throughout the night, the sound and acoustics were incredible in the fairly new 500 seat venue. The band almost sold out both shows for Thursday and Friday evenings. It was no doubt an incredible opportunity to see The Dusters at a smaller, more intimate venue that excels in sound performance. It's one of those venues where you can hear every instrument of the band, especially of course, the banjo.

However, it wasn't the Stringdusters best performance. Perhaps it was because it was a weeknight, but the band performed much shorter than average. Usually, the group performs a three hour plus show, and this time of around, they decided to scale it back a bit with just a two-hour performance.

The Dusters are a group who doesn't have the same setlist every night, especially when they perform consecutive evenings in one state. It became clear they were saving even more of Colorado's favorite songs for the next two evenings.

Despite a shorter performance, the band still amazed the crowd with a wonderful version of their song 'Gravity' and a great cover of 'Blue Ridge Mountains.'

Overall, it was well worth going to witnessing the band in such a small theater.
