Sierra Hull braves the snow in Nashville and proves she's the best of what modern bluegrass has to offer in the Rocky Mountains, A+

Above: Sierra Hull performs with the Infamous Stringdusters on Saturday, January 11 at Mission Ballroom.

Despite 8 inches of snow in Nashville, Sierra Hull and her team drove through the weather to make it to a run of shows in the Rocky Mountains to kick off her 2025 tour. The first two dates were nothing short of incredible, proving that Hull is the best lady of bluegrass in the business today.

Wearing stylish orange overalls for both her performances in Breckenridge and at the Mission Ballroom, Sierra was full of energy for the first two dates of the tour. The first two dates were very different from each other, the first being in a smaller 700 sized venue in downtown Breckenridge, and the second being in the medium sized Mission Ballroom in Denver.

Those who were lucky enough to attend the Saturday night performance saw an incredible night of bluegrass that lasted well into the evening as Hull joined the Stringdusters both during their own set and her opening act.

Although Sierra's own show was incredible to witness, the best of the two dates was when she performed at the Mission Ballroom Saturday night. It was incredible to see her opening up for the Stringdusters and joining them onstage later on during their set list as well. The Mission Ballroom is always a fun venue providing great sound and visuals no matter where you sit or stand.

However, the show Friday evening at the Breckenridge Arts Center was a true way to kick off her tour in a small venue. Of course, she played longer than on Saturday night while opening for the Stringdusters with her own headlining act, and with someone like Sierra, if you have the chance to, it's absolutely worth it watching her do her own shows.

The 33-year-old Sierra was nominated for a grammy and watching her live, it's a no brainer. Her mandolin skills are nothing short of incredible, but it's her vocals that stole the show both Friday and Saturday evenings. Her vocals match her mandolin playing and together with her band, the music sounded incredible both nights.

One of the highlights of both nights was when Sierra performed a cover of Bela Fleck's "The Sinister Minister", and it's nice to know that she's a fan of the great Bela Fleck as well.

We were all lucky enough for those who attended that Sierra was able to make the performances due to the weather happening around the nation.

Of course, The Infamous Stringdusters themselves were much better at the Mission Ballroom than their show Thursday night. "This is going to be a long one, sorry!" proclaimed one of the Dusters. Indeed, their performance lasted a good three hours, not including the opening bands. They plowed through a great Colorado pleasing set list, and the entire venue was singing along to the state song.

Sierra, however, was the star of the show. She is one of the best live touring acts that you can see this year and absolutely worth it!

A+
