Colorado based lady group Big Richard released their first album last month called Girl Dinner. The album shows the new band is a rising force in the bluegrass world.
Big Richard made their big debut during the 2022 Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Since then, the band has played nearly every Colorado Bluegrass festival and has begun to tour locally and nationally. The all-female group finally released their first record, titled 'Girl Dinner' in January 2025. The 11-track record beautifully demonstrates that the girls are equally talented and are a new force to be reckoned with. They no doubt show a promising future and career ahead of them.
The record is highlighted by the vocally lead 'The Missing Stairs', which has powerful vocals and harmonies from the ladies. While most of the songs have great vocals throughout, some of them are more traditional bluegrass ballads, including 'Beards Brushing Through the Night', where the musical instruments are on full display.
The group consists of mandolin player Bonnie Sims, fiddler Eve Panning, bassist Hazel Royer and Dr. Joy Adams.
On their new album 'Girl Dinner' the ladies have clearly grown as a string band since their debut live performances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and other events. Although the final track is indeed a sad story, overall, the album shows who's in charge here, and it's obvious the ladies are right from the beginning.
