The Wood Brothers performs Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Dillon Amp opening up for Saint Paul & The Broken Bones.
Last night, a CO-headlining bill with Saint Paul & The Broken Bones and the Wood Brothers kicked off the 2025 summer concert season at the Dillon Amp. It was the best concert of the year so far, with both bands providing an incredible amount of talent and energy throughout the evening.
Although there was a threat and chance of rain showers, Colorado weather seemed to hold off for the show at the 2,000 seat Dillon Amp last night. It was a great evening for a concert. Even though their music is extremely different from each other, with Wood Brothers providing more of a Americana/folk sound and Saint Paul & The Broken Bones jazz and blues, the combination was perfect.
Many folks in the audience had seen both bands multiple times before, including this reviewer who has reviewed Wood Brothers three times and St. Paul & The Broken Bones once before in Telluride at the Blues Festival.
The Wood Brothers performed an hour and 15-minute set, which is impressive for an act performing first. It was clear that many folks in the audience were there to see them as well as St. Paul & The Broken Bones, as they had the most amount of crowd interaction and sing alongs during the night. They had a great set list as well, performing all their hits like 'Luckiest Man' and 'The Muse'. It was the Wood Brother's first show with Saint Paul & The Broken Bones this year.
However, Saint Paul & The Broken had the crowd dancing most of their set. Paul Janeway has an incredible voice that carried extremely well with every song. Every member of the group was good and performed their own special solos, perhaps highlighted by the saxophonist. The best part of the evening came when the Wood Brothers joined Saint Paul & The Broken onstage for a performance of The Band's 'Ophellia.' "That doesn't happen to often," explained Saint Paul after the song. Another highlight came when Saint Paul himself took to the crowd for an entire song and went all the way to the back of the amp, greetings fans without any fear.
It was a great show with both The Wood Brothers and Saint Paul & The Broken Bones playing more than an hour long and incredible fresh energy. This tour is absolutely worth going to this summer.
A+
