The Black Crowes perform wih Tedeschi Trucks Band & London Souls at CMAC

WHAT: CONCERT REVIEW
WHERE: CMAC
WHEN: WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st
WHO: BLACK CROWES/ TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND

Last night was another wonderful night for a concert in Upstate NY. The weather being perfect providing an excellent feel as Tedeschi Trucks Band and Black Crowes with London Souls graced CMAC's stage.
The opening band was mediocre at best with mixed sound and extremely loud guitars, but their thankfulness to the crowes and Tedeschi Trucks was a warm welcome to the concert. The next performance was simply incredible and mind blowing as Tedeschi Trucks band took the stage. A Collaboration of two well known guitarists, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, who's rated as #16 in Rolling Stone Magazine's top 100 guitarists of all time, the Tedeschi Trucks Band is filled with extremely talented musicians. These musicians include saxophonist, trombone and trumpet players as well as flute players and back up harmonies. Each of these musicians were simply incredible last night and the band provided an hour and half set list, truly amazing for an opening group. The band also closed their set with an incredible performance of a Sly & Family Stone song.
The entire concert last night was so loud many people's ears were hurting greatly after the show. The intense loudness might have been a setback to the concert making the sound seem somewhat distorted during the Black Crowe's set. However, lead singer Chris Robinson's voice is so powerful that most of the time he could be heard above his band despite the powerful sounds of the guitar and drums. The Crowes are a band known not to play their hits live, but their jam friendly and psychedelic tunes make up for this drawback. It's also good to know of a band who doesn't cater just to their radio hits and can be great live without playing them. They did manage to include 3 hits in their setlist last night, included 'Remedy', 'She Talks to Angels' and 'Jealous Again'.
The most impressive thing about last night's concert was the ending as the Crow envited the Tedeschi Trucks Band to perform with them on stage during the encore. A total of twelve musicians rocked the stage at the end of the concert, providing a memorable performance. However, the blasting loud noise of the concert unfortunately may have been a negative reaction instead of a positive one and the Crowes might want to consider turning it down a few notches in the near future.

Overall
Rating at CMAC :  3 out of 5 stars ***
