Hobbit: Smaug
When:

Despite it being the second in a trilogy and just a stepping stone for the Hobbit Films, the Desolation of Smaug greatly succeeds and is much better than the first movie. Smaug greatly benefits from the title of its creation, the dragon who is the highlight of the film. Benedict Cumberbatch (Khan from Star Trek into Darkness) does a great job with voice over. Martin Freeman seems to truly flow into his role as Bilbo Baggins, and some of the other characters stand out as well in this film, especially Thorin Oakenshield the dwarf king.
Seeing it in IMAX 3-D is truly a great entertaining marvel. The big screen provides great visual and sound masterpieces as you get to see the film in Peter Jackson's new format. The screen format of 5k resolution and 48 frames per second is a bit unusual, and unfortunately at times it can be hard to look at because its so different. However, once you get use to it, its just something a bit different and new that flows into the film.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as a whole is more confident, and a fun filled exciting chapter that will lead middle earth fans excited for the final film.
