Weezer's Teal album is a sing a long, B

Although it certainly isn't the band's greatest album they've ever done, the Teal album is proof that Weezer are still having fun doing the thing they love.

It's short, and really this album should be called the Cover Album. Yet, the Teal album is proof that although everyone knows and loves these songs, they are done 'Weezer style'. The band still sounds great, and even though this might be an album that doesn't matter too much in the whole realm of things, it's awfully fun. It's great to listen to an album and sing a long to the songs, and that is what this record does best.

There's nothing new about the Teal album except that it has just been released this year. All the eight songs on the record are indeed covers. Yet this album shouldn't be treated as a full length studio record because in actuality, it's a surprise release from the band that's sole purpose is just to delight the fans. For that reason, the album is near perfect.

It's great to hear these songs done by a band you love. It's almost like music gold because these songs on the Teal album have all been on the radio countless times, so you automatically know the lyrics and the guitar riffs. However, what you don't know is the way Weezer will transform the songs into their own. They put on a great transformation of almost all the songs that are a pleasure to hear from Cuamo's voice to the guitars and drums in the group.
The reason why the Teale album works is because Weezer isn't just throwing some random covers around and doing a part time job with it. They are actually and truly transforming these songs to their own style that all fans of the band know and love.

One of the highlights of the record is Mr. Blue Sky and how great Cuamo hits the high notes on that song. He doesn't skip a single chord, and the rest of the band of course sounds excellent as well.
However, The Teal album isn't perfect. The songs themselves are almost like Weezer was drunk one night at the bar, saved the songs from the Jukebox and decided to play them. As a cover album, it could have been better if Weezer actually selected more better and thought provoking covers then those that are constantly played on the radio. The album itself is extremely short, and could have benefited from more covers as wells.
Aside from that, fans will love the record and it's a great new surprise from a band most of us all love.
