David Bowie's Honky Dory is more popish than his other albums

What: Music Review, Discography
Who: David Bowie

It's easy to say that Honky Dory is pure Bowie, before and pre his Ziggy Stardust album. While Ziggy Stardust rocketed the star to fandom, it was Honky Dory that was truly his first hit and success. As well as it should be. Honky Dory sounds almost completely different than Ziggy Stardust and the rest of his early work. At first listen, its unusually different in the aspect that the album is much more poppy than his previous efforts. Bowie's tune's on the claimed effort are still catchy, but seemed to have been strung down and lacked up in order to be in the popular spotlight instead of his other albums that were so completely different, bizarre and taking 'pop' to a whole new level. While this album may be critically acclaimed, this reviewer did not find it as appealing as his other solo works, even in his debut album was better than Honky Dory.

Rating: C
