Who: The black Keys
When: May 2014
Why: Their new album, Turn Blue
It's official: The Black Keys have returned again with a new album, and this time, it's one of if not the best album so far of 2014. Not only that, but the album is the best they've ever done. Even if you hate the band, you might want to listen to at least a few tracks from Turn Blue because it's not the same old music. It's different, it's unique and it's something everyone can enjoy.
The Black Keys are a band that seem to get better with every album they produce, and so far over the past few years they've stayed true to this claim. With this album though, they've not only come out with something new but something different as well everyone can enjoy.
First off, the album is as much as a blues album than it is a rock album, which is certainly a good thing for the Keys. The mix the genres together as well, and sometimes throughout the album its clear that some of the tracks are much more bluesy than rock. While Turn Blue might not be as catchy as their previous effort, it's much more intriguing and sneakier, catching you off guard at many turns. What this album is a turning point for the Black Keys in which they most certainly will gain new fans while pleasing to the old ones, which is what every album should be.
