There's several things great about film maker and director Edgar Wright, and one of those things is he knows how to make good films. His latest, Baby Driver, is one of his best, and a refreshing time at the movies in a land of remakes, sequels and reboots.
Known for such cult classics as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Planet Terror, Edgar Wright returns to the movies this summer with action thriller Baby Driver. The film has an excellent cast, and in return, everything about it is near perfect. There's nothing actually wrong with the movie, making it one of the better action films in years and one of the best 2017 has to offer so far.
There's several reasons of course, why the film is so great. The cast is top notch, which includes some fine acting by Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm. There's also a fun role played by Kevin Spacey, and new comer actor Ansel Elgor does a decent job as the title character, Baby. There's fine acting all around in this little gem, which is a bit surprising in itself due to the movie genre it's in. That's not the only surprises Baby Driver has to offer.
Perhaps the best thing about the film isn't the action scenes, car chases or characters, but above all else, the sound track. The sound track is amazing from the start of the film to the last, truly blending in a perfect rhythm to the movie's tone. It's one of those sound tracks that might go down in history, and the connection between the music and the movie is amazing. As much as the film is about cars and driving, it's equally about music which makes it even more interesting.
The character development in the film is stronger then ever, and by the middle of it, your quickly falling in love with everyone of the characters, even the bad ones.
The car chase scenes are another highlight of the film. The entire movie is slick, from beginning to end. Even if your not a fan of action movies, Baby Driver is one hell of an entertaining flick. It's something all movie goers from every genre can appreciate and have fun with.
Above all else, Baby Driver is refreshing. In a time where there's so many sequels, reboots and remakes, it's great to see something original come out, especially in the summer. Baby Driver is a great film and may even become a cult classic on it's own.
