Funny, heartfelt, emotional, and filled with wonderful acting, BlackKansman is one of Spike Lee's best films. It's intense, and doesn't skip a beat. The film is unique and powerful and has come out at a time when it's perhaps needed the most in today's political world. What Spike Lee does in this is absolutely great-he manages to combine intense political moments into a feel good dark comedy movie that will be remembered for years to come.

6)

A Quiet Place (95% On Rotten Tomatoes)
A Quiet Place is a modern horror masterpiece. It shows that all horror movies don't have to have blood and guts in order to be truly terrifying. Husband and wife team Emily Blunt and John Krasinki are both absolutely wonderful in the film. The sound track to the movie, as well as the screen play, is the best of 2018 because of how well the camera work truly is. It's truly scary, and although short, it ends on a powerful note that screams for more sequels.

7) Roma (96% On Rotten Tomatoes)
While Team Roma is on rumor to win the Oscars this year, we at Wildfire Reviews don't actually think it's 2018's best movie. It's a masterpiece for sure, and leaves you thinking about it for days afterwards. However, the film is still very raw in many ways, and the first half of the film is very slow and it doesn't pick up until the halfway moment. When it does though, get ready and you are in for a wild ride with a wonderful look at 1970's Mexican culture.

8) Black Panther (97% on Rotten Tomatoes)
The best Marvel movie by far, Black Panther is tremendous. Black Panther is unlike all the other films in it's genre, and the result is a superb super hero flick that will change the game for years to come. A great story line, amazing set pieces and fight scenes and a worthy villain is what every super hero film should have, and Black Panther has that in plentiful amounts. It's the best origins story yet, and proof that Marvel is still not done with making incredible films.

A Star is Born (90% On Rotten Tomatoes)

The third remake of the movie is still a powerful one. Bradley Cooper proves he's one of the best rising stars of this generation with acting and directing the film. Lady Ga Ga is equally impressive with her first ever role. It's a powerful, emotional and sometimes depressing story, but Cooper manages to bring his rock and roll star to life with powerful acting that makes A Star Is Born one of 2018's best films.

11)
Mandy (91% On Rotten Tomatoes)

Nicolas Cage is back! It's great to see him back in a role that he truly loves to play. Mandy is by far the most violent film on this list, but it's violent for a reason. Funny at times but also insanely dark, Mandy re invents the Grind House genre with a film that's both equally bizarre and beautiful. Great cinematography and a sound track adds to the film's eeriness. it's proof that the grind house films of the 70s and 80s might still be alive in Hollywood today.

Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse (97% On Rotten Tomatoes)

More Marvel? Why Not. Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man film yet because it successfully introduces something new to it's already jam packed movie franchise. Amazing animation is just one of the highlights of this film. Into the Spider-Verse is so great because of not only the characters, but it's connection to Brooklyn more so than any other Spider-Man film. Yet, it's a super hero film at it's heart, and the story line and even villain are both great.

14)

The Rider (97% On Rotten Tomatoes)

Even though it's slow, The Rider is slow for a reason. All real life actors play themselves in the movie, which is about rodeos in today's world. It's a fascinating look at one of the most dangerous sports there is, and introduces the world to a fascinating new rodeo cow boy who's life was changed for forever after a riding accident. Extremely emotional and beautifully directed, The Rider is also a beautiful look at the Badlands and the countryside where its filmed.

Eighth Grade (99% on Rotten Tomatoes)

Newcomer director Bo Burnham wows us with an unbelievable tale of an 8th grader. Newcomer actress Elisie Fisher is so convincing as an 8th grader it's scary. Extremely in the now and in this moment, the film gets everything right and surprisingly, you never get bored while watching. The film was extremely well written and thought out all together, and you almost wish it was a bit longer to be more part of Kayla's interesting world.

You Were Never Really Here (89% on Rotten Tomatoes)

Highlighted by a powerful performance from Joaquin Phoenix, You Were Never Really Here is all about film direction. Newcomer director Lynne Ramsay offers her unusual talents that make this film so unique. Film with incredible cinematography, You Were Never Really Here also benefits from a compelling and thrilling story line. It's dark, but at the same time, the film has a great ending, and shows us that there still can be a great thriller movie in today's over crowded movie genre world.

Green Book-80% (On Rotten Tomatoes)

While it might not be the best film of 2018, and it's the lowest rated on this list by the RT meter, it's a darn good one that everyone will love. It's a compelling story, greatly written with an excellent screen play and another one of those movies that captivates you from the beginning to the end. It's also laugh out loud funny which separates it from the rest of the films on this list. You also have to watch it if your Italian because there's a great Italian story, and both Viggo and Nagersgaka Ali are a great acting team in the movie.

Although it's certainly not the best film of 2018, Ethan Hawke's tremendous performance is what makes this film good. It's also an eerie look at priest hood, and what it means to be a priest in the modern world. It's slow, but one only has to look at Ethan Hawke throughout the film to be entertained because it's one of his best performances he's ever done, despite the movie being so slow.
