The Innkeepers is a mush mush horror flick

What: Movie Review

While everything about The Innkeepers is inspiring including a brilliant script from new horror director T.I. West, the film falls short of greatness due to its somewhat slow beginning and offsetting ending.
The Innkeepers is about two hotel front desk workers working over time during a weekend shortly before their building is going out of business. The hotel their working is is suppose to be haunted by a spirit named Madlyn Monroe, and the two front desk workers just happen to have a keen interested in paranormal activity and wish to document it. Needless to say over the weekend they get much more then they bargain for in 'The Innkeepers.'
While The Innkeepers doesn't break any new grounds, there's plenty of scares as the movie picks up. Ti West builds a suspenseful touch to the film with its interesting characters and creepy hotel building settings. Let's face it, as John Cusack pointed out in the horror flick 1408, 'hotel rooms are just naturally a creepy place.' The Innkeepers displays this in full film and although the beginning and ending are a bit of a drag, it's a movie that may begin a promising career for T.I. West.

Overall Rating: B-
