Stay for the Lovable Humans & Terryfing monsters of Pacific Rim

What: Movie Review

One of summer's big movie blockbusters this year was Pacific Rim, the new film by Guillermo Del Toro. Although the movie may have far much more style than anything else, it's a classic and great modern day monster film that won't have most fans disappointed. The special effects in this movie are simply awesome and awe inspiring powerful, especially the city fight scenes between the Kavu and Jagers.
It has a signature staple of director Del Toro's work, who previously did Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy films and in every aspect, you can tell that Pacific Rim is his baby.
The movie is about the end of the world happening when Giant alien creatures called Kavu erupt from the oceans and start attacking the human race who fight back with giant robots Jagers. So yes, it's a monster vs alien movie but it's done right, far much better than the Transformers films. While Pacific Rim has a bit of influence from Godzilla and the Matrix, it stands in its own league and extremely entertaining film despite it being over the top ridiculous because that is what it wants to be.

Grade: B+
