Willie Nelson's new album is surprisingly one of the best of the year

What: Album Review
Who: Willie Nelson
When: June 2014
Why: A new album from a country legend

It's been nearly 20 years since Willie Nelson came onto the scene with a new album featuring new music. Finally, the country legend has returned with Band of Brothers, an album that's not afraid to go back to basics and be stripped down. It's surprisingly one of the best albums of 2014, and Willie's voice has never been stronger.
What's best about the new album from Willie is that each song feels different, and has its own theme and melodies to it. The constant acoustic guitar goes along perfect with Willie's voice, proving that a stripped down version of his music is just as good as the more faster tunes. Some of the better tunes on the albums are different and up beat as well, including the classical "Bring it On" and title track "Band of Brothers".
The lyrics are powerful and you could tell Willie put his heart and mind into this new piece of work, and hopefully some of the songs on the new album will be shown on his mega tour this year featuring Allison Krauss & Kacey Musgraves.
The album is completely fresh and a reminder that Willie still has it in him to produce new good music.

Grade:
A+
