Wild Child performs in Syracuse Tuesday Night @ The Westcott:

This Tuesday night indie folk group Wild Child performed at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY. The Austin, Texas based group played in Syracuse for the very first time, and throughout the night, lead front woman Kelsey Wilson commented on how she was surprised that many people knew of them and showed up at the event. The concert was fantastic, despite some 'lukewarm' opening bands. Wild Child proved their a new force to be reckoned with in the folk rock music world, and their just as good live as how weird their music video for 'Crazy Bird' is.
Despite blistering and average Upstate New York temperatures hovering around ten degrees F outside of the Westcott, a good number of music lovers braced the cold and came to see a new and upcoming band and let's face it, to be a little bit hip.
It was rather surprising that Kelsey Wilson was surprised at the turn out; Wild Child has been growing in popularity over the past several years ever since they performed at SXSW two years ago. The band has recently sold out the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C, which is impressive to say the least. And why not? Their music is catchy and live the band has seemed to pay attention to how well each instrument goes smoothly along with one another on stage.
It was nice to see in a new group that guitar, bass and drums weren't the star elements of the band-Kelsey Wilson played a mean violin throughout the night, and opposite of her Alexander Beggins ripped on his ukelele, and there was also a banjo and cello present at all times. It was a good sounding mixture of all these musical instruments combined with Wilson's vocals. The highlights of the night included when the band performed their songs 'Living Tree' and 'Run Around' which are great dance friendly tunes.
Wilson dominated the band live much more than she does in the studio, and although each and one of them are young, Wild Child is a group that has a promising future ahead of them.
